The following option is a great choice to introduce to the dinner table when your family wants pasta next time. It is a quick, easy to make meal. Additionally, it uses ingredients that you probably already have at your home, so there’s no need to go out shopping for additional groceries.

  • 12 ounces of pasta
  • Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 1/2 cups veggie broth
  • 2 large sprigs of basil, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons oregano levels
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 4 cloves of garlic, thin sliced
  • 1 sweet onion, chopped
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes with liquid

Place the uncooked pasta, onion, tomatoes, basil, garlic, and vegetable broth into a large stock pot. Add red pepper flakes and oregano, then drizzle with oil. Cover the pot and bring the broth to a boil. Reduce this down to a low simmer and then keep covered and cook for around 10 minutes. You should stir it every few minutes that pass. Cook this until almost all of the liquid has disappeared. You can leave around an inch of liquid in the pan, though this really depends on your own preferences. Some people prefer a lot of sauce in this recipe while others may find that they prefer a little less. Experiment with your family’s preferences and find out what tastes the best to them.

Season this to taste with salt and pepper, stirring the pasta several times to help spread the liquid in the bottom of the pot. Serve the pasta with parmesan cheese, if wanted. This can be paired with a green salad and a small dessert that you have made. It doesn’t matter if the herbs that are listed are used fresh or dry, they will produce the same results. You can also substitute some herbs for other if you have a preference for certain flavors or if you just prefer to use different options.
